I have been doing lots of experimenting with cooking and making things by hand.  I read the ingredient labels of products in the grocery store and am horrified by how many things I can't pronounce.

I started off with simple things.  I started making my own bread and making my own tomato sauce(silly it took me so long since it's so easy)..that naturally led to my own pasta.

Then I tried making my own yogurt and found that it doesn't give me the heartburn that store bought always did.  It tastes better and it's *SO* cheap to make.

I learned how to make my own butter crackers (think Ritz) and ground up some fresh shelled (by hand) peanuts in my food processor to eat with them.

I'm having so much fun learning what, imo, should be basic skills.  How much healthier (and richer) would we be if we took the time to create our food instead of buying processed approximations of it?

On a lighter note, I took a video yesterday morning of the kitten playing with his toy.   It attaches to the laundry room door by an elastic string and he's determined to drag it off and play with it... and it snaps back every time.
