I work with guys... all manly men with Star Wars figurines spread across their workspaces and football screensavers. I decided it was time to make MY space all girly...and then deal with the teasing that is sure to follow. I use a clipboard when I take calibration readings from different offices and I hate the ugly cardboard brown one that came with my job so I brought it home and prettified it.
I painted the metal part and about two inches all round in a color call 'Cool White'. Then using Mod Podge I added some scrap booking paper front and back. It looked good, but it still just wasn't girly enough for my taste. The answer came while I was washing my hands and saw the silk flowers in the wall planter in my bathroom... I scavenged a flower and two leaves from it and I was done!
Binder clips. I use them all the time and I always have the black part of them visible from my in & out box...so plain and bland. While I had the Mod Podge out and tons of scraps from all the other projects I've been doing (you know, 'cause I never throw stuff out anymore) I decoupaged about 20 of them.
Last but not least... I have a thing for small boxes. I just love them. I get TONS of them coming in at work from reticles and other small items I get in for calibration. Brown is such an icky color though. My solution(for everything), DECOUPAGE!
I have one of these under my sink that holds my dishwasher tabs, one in the laundry room to wrangle dryer sheet boxes and my vinegar bottle. I also have two or three in my crafting room for holding crafting...stuff and now I'll start making them for work I guess.
